Family owned and run paradise
Why stay in a traditional resort when you can get a much better experience for much less money? I really don’t know what people see in them when you can stay here instead. We just spent four wonderful nights at Tai Roto Bay and loved every minute of it. The villas are perfect and have everything you need. The bed was super comfortable. We stayed in Villa 2 which was the second best location, still with a great view of the lagoon from the deck.
Breakfast was delicious and all the staff, owners and their cats were very friendly.
There are three great places to eat or drink within walking distance and if you’ve got a scooter licence from Rarotonga or a suitable equivalent you can rent scooters on site.
There were kayaks and paddeboards to take out onto the lagoon, and the lagoon tours from Bishops and other companies are just a short walk away.
On a map you might worry about how close it is to the end of the runway. You don’t need to. There are very few flights and they don’t disturb you at all.
They are currently constructing a big new breakfast area on the beach which will surely make this family run paradise even more idyllic.
A wonderful location to relax
Fantastic spot overlooking the bay. We stayed for four nights and it was perfect. The owners are extremely friendly and took great care of us during our stay. The air conditioning was a big plus at night as it was a warmer time of year.
I would definitely recommend Tai Roto for those looking for a place to relax and enjoy the wonderful views of the lagoon.
We will definitely be back!

Such an amazing experience. We enjoyed every moment – Cheran and her team made us feel so special. Breakfast was delightful, the lagoon is beautiful, service is outstanding. Walking distance to restaurants, lagoon cruises. We kayaked and felt like we were the only people on earth. You would not regret staying here. So peaceful and relaxing.

Perfect choice for Aitutaki relaxation
Everything 10/10! We had such an amazing 3 nights at Tai Roto for our honeymoon in the absolute beachfront villa 1.
The view of the blue lagoon is just perfect! Comfortable lounges on the deck and so close to the beach day beds. The garden villas also had amazing views over the beautiful gardens and lagoon beyond.
Cheran was so lovely and helpful with arranging a private lagoon tour for us with Mike Lee, which was also 10/10! She also arranged for our scooter hire directly from the office which was so convenient.
After scootering around the island and seeing all parts of Aitutaki I am certain that we picked THE BEST accommodation for location, beachfront and views.
They also offer free use of their snorkelling gear and kayaks/SUP boards to explore the nearby islands which wouldn’t be accessible for people staying on the main section & west of Aitutaki island.
The villa was so clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The breakfast to our villa was so beautiful and delicious! On the weekends they even left us eggs to cook up ourselves.
I cannot thank Cheran and the amazing team at Tai Roto enough, our stay was nothing short of magical!

Our Villa was very spacious, comfortable with an excellent bed with gorgeous bedding! We love our view across the gardens to the beautiful lagoon.
Tai Roto Bay is well situated for good restaurants to dine at, our favourite being the Blue Lagoon.
